ABOUT THE FILM

As soon as Loan arrives in Korea from Vietnam to live with her Korean husband, her mother-in-law takes her to a beauty salon first and lets her get a perm.

Asian women who come to Korea to marry Korean men are forced to become Korean women as soon as they get to Korea. Their Korean families teach them how to live as a mother-in-law, a wife and a mother. This is related to a Korean myth, which says that once women get married, they must be loyal to their husbands’ family. Why do Koreans compel those from other countries to follow this myth even though Korean women are not willing to accept it?
