THE CON-CAN MOVIE FESTIVAL ENTERS AN OFFICIAL PARTNERSHIP WITH TAMPERE INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL, THE OLDEST SHORT FILM FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD
Media Research, Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo; President: Masahiro Yoshino) which manages the CON-CAN Media Plaza has reached agreement with Finland’s Tampere Film Festival (Chairman: Jukka-Pekka Laakso) to enter an official collaboration.
Since 1970, the Tampere Film Festival has been showcasing works of talented directors and today is regarded as one of the world’s premier international short movie festivals. Since 2005, Tampere chairman Jukka-Pekka Laakso has been an international juror for the CON-CAN Movie Festival. Now Tampere and the CON-CAN Media Plaza have agreed to introduce each other’s short films to their respective audiences.
Details of the agreement will be announced at a later date. This agreement, initiated by CON-CAN, does however represent a major step forward for the two festivals, which, while based in different parts of the world, share the common mission of promoting short movies and making them available to the international audience.
＜About the CON-CAN Movie Festival＞
The 1st CON-CAN Movie Festival was held in 2005 as an international online short movie festival with two types of awards; one, an Audience Award that is presented by viewers, and the other a Grand Prix and Tamashii awards decided by the CON-CAN International Jury. In November 2008, the CON-CAN Movie Festival will hold its 5th annual award ceremony, where it will showcase the Grand Prix and Tamashii award winners. Since May 1st, the CON-CAN Movie Festival has been presenting 20 selected movies a month on its website (www.con-can.com) where viewers can watch for free and vote for the Audience Award.
