The 3rd award ceremony took place on October 14, 2006 at Tokyo Main Dining (a fancy, trendsetting parlor restaurant) in Tokyo. 616 submissions from 54 nations were submitted for the 3rd movie festival. The Grand Prix and Tamashii awards were decided by the CON-CAN International Jury members through an internet conference linking 4 nations.
Awarded directors: Rajeev Ahuja from India, director of “Broad Day” (Tamashii award winner) and Michelange Quay from France, director of “Gospel of The Creole Pig” (Grand Prix award winner) were given their awards on stage by the CON-CAN Chairman, Masahiro Yoshino. Unfortunately, due to a schedule conflict Duane Hopkins (United Kingdom), director of “Love Me or Leave me Alone” and Tamashii award winner was unable to attend. Video messages from several CON-CAN International Jury members were aired for the 100 plus guests who attended the award ceremony.
Another highlight was the introduction of the launch of the first Japan-based “video-on-demand” mobile service provided through the collaboration of Imagica Corp. (one of the largest motion picture film laboratories in Japan) and local cable television network companies at the award ceremony. Like CON-CAN, this project uses broadband technology as its primary platform for providing entertainment to the general audience.
