ABOUT THE FILM

This odd little space in an obscure corner of the city is the gallery where a former special-effects man displays the works that make up his eccentric career. Curiosity attracts visitors. Then, however, as they listen to his stories, they learn how many sad memories this place contains.

DIRECTOR'S DATA

Nationality:
Germany
Activities:
Uta Arning grew up in Germany with a family where art was emphasized along side of business and science, gaining an appreciation for visual art. Uta studied buisiness administration at Aachen University and finishes with a master’s degree, but once she received her degree and entered the real world, her passion for film reemerged, film embodying the confluence of art, science, business and people. Uta applied herself to learning as much as she could about the film making process. Working on diverse productions, such as the award winning TV Production “Trust.Wohltat“ and the Michael Ballhaus Film “Von der Hingabe“ in cooperation with the Berlin Film School (dffb), and producing her own short films, eventually led her to apply to the NYU film program. This year in May she received a partial scholarship for a film production seminar in Cannes. "The smallest cinema of the Universe" screened at the Short Film Corner Cannes.

one piece of berlin, as it really is. only in berlin you live with that freedom, in every other capital this man would be just a homeless guy...
good to see one of berlin's faces. good to see that movie.
