Was born on September 10, 1973 in Zlín, Czech Republic.
From1988 till 1993 he studied Theatre studies in London where he had defected
with his parents during the former communist regime.
From 1996 till 1998 he studied at the Higher Technical Film School in Zlín where he had directed his graduation short film Defector. This dark grotesque has been shown at film festivals around the world and has won several prizes.
In 1998 he worked as an assistent director to the renowned Czech film director Vojtěch Jasný.
From 1999 till 2008 he studied feature film directing at FAMU School in Prague where he has made several short films. His Bachelor film Passengers has earned him international recognition and got several awards, e.g. The EIKK (European Film Institute) Award for European Subsidy Programm for Young Film Professionals at 23rd International Festival of Film Schools in Munich 2003.
