ABOUT THE FILM

This documentary is by a Peruvian director living in the United States. Her subject is the life of Jorge Eielson, a leading 20th century artist, who is, however, totally unknown in his home country. 
The director 's depiction of the ordeals through which Eielson has lived vividly displays her filmmaking talent.

Peruvian award-winning filmmaker, Gabriela started working in TV and documentaries in Peru at the National Peruvian Television Network (Peruvian equivalent of the American PBS). She was part of the creative team of The Good Land, a documentary series about sustainable development sponsored by the United Nations. In 2002 she and Antonio Rodriguez shot My destiny's way, an award-winning documentary about education in Peru sponsored by the Ford Foundation (Education in Color Contest Winner, 2003; The night of the shorts Film Festival, Lima 2004). She has finished her last year as a Master of Fine Arts candidate in the Film and Video Production Program in the University of Texas at Austin.

一人の芸術家を描きだすにはあまりにも短くも、このように記録され残る事にドキュメンタリーの良さを感じさせてくれます。しかし人と出会うのにタイミングというものがこうも難しいものかと今一度考えさせられます。

ホルヘの詩や言葉をもっと知りたいと思いました。つまりはこの作品を制作しようと思い立った監督とおんなじ気持ちに…。伝わるってこういうことなんですね。
