A young woman returns to her home burdened with unhappy memories for the first time in many years. But something strikes a chord in her heart when she sees her grandfather wasted by illness. The work conveys a feeling of that it is always possible to forgive family and gives the viewer a sense of compassion.
Originally graduated from the Medical Faculty of Helsinki University year 2000. Thereafter studied film and media in Stadia Polytechnic, Helsinki. Mother of two children, born 1998 and 2004.
Maarit Koskinen has studied media and film studies in Stadia Polytechnic since year 2000 and has thereafter made a few shortfilms, screened on festivals. She has also worked as a dialoque writer for a succesful tv-series Salatut elamat 1999-2004. "Pappa" is her graduating work from Stadia. Now, after her maternity break she is working on new projects.

The film "Pappa" has been selected to the national competition of Nordic Glory festival 2005. It has been shown in finnish filmfestivals Tampere film festival 2006, and Kinokisa where it was awarded an honour Diploma 2006.
