ABOUT THE FILM

A young woman narrates a series of emails from an old friend traveling in India and Japan. Some mundane, some rambling, some philosophical. He is seeking life's meaning in his travels, but perhaps all he wants to do is to view the sunset. Part documentary, part travelogue, maybe a love letter. An experimental essay-film.

Very powerful film Mr. Edmund...very introspective...it's very honest and it doesn't pretend to be profound.

Thank you for sharing it with us..more power to you and best wishes!

At the end, I feel sad thinking that all the scenes of the young woman were only imagined. Often in pursuing goals, I don't remember to think about what's beautiful. I think the young woman is, people being happy, or really struggling, more than leaves and sunsets - but I would miss the latter. Imagining the young woman finding happiness in small things makes me adore her more.

The beautiful dialogue (the english subtitles does no justice to the spoken Chinese) holds the short film together, more so than the vignettes of images strung together to tell a story.

Lovely. Looking forward to your next film.

Thanks for the feedback, Kouta.

Ironically, the film was originally written in English before being translated to Chinese. But I guess it probably worked better in Chinese since I wrote it with its Chinese translation in mind.

I've made numerous films since Fleeting Images, you can see a list of them here http://swiftywriting.blogspot.com/2006/01/edmund-yeos-short-films.html

■ Edmund Yeo 2009-11-12 06:24:40

That is an interesting suggestion. Thank you for your feedback.

Thanks for your comment, if I ever make another 散文詩, I will try to improve upon that,
