A Long-distance Call

One summer day, an artist called Jiajia came to an antiquated village in a secluded mountainous area in southern China. To her shock, the village was sparsely populated with mostly elders and children. Moreover, she had the feeling that she was being tailed all the time. Jiajia finds out that it was some kids following her for her mobile phone. So she set a trap for them to steal her mobile phone. But only then did she realize that these kids had stolen the phone only to call their parents who are "farmer-workers" working in the city. Jiajia was introduced to the sad realities of life in small villages all over China.
With artist Jiajia's experience in the small mountain village, this story aims to draw people's attention to the relationship between "farmer-worker" parents and their children remaining in rural areas.
