Nofil Iqbal / Festival Managing Director

Takes lead of the overall flow and the many projects CON-CAN is undergoing. He works day and night to spread the name of CON-CAN globally by constructing solid connections with multiple movie-industry professionals, movie schools, and other internationally acclaimed corporations.

PROFILE

Nofil was born in Pakistan but spent most of his life in Tokyo, Japan. After his undergraduate studies, he built up his career through working for financial firms, movie production companies, and advertising agencies. Nofil is a huge movie buff and adores documentaries that possess a deep message. One of his favorite movies is “Sholay” (1975), an Indian movie directed by Ramesh Sippy. On another note, he just recently made his grand debut as a Daddy.

Joined the CON-CAN team from the 4th Movie Festival and is in charge of the programming of movies that participate in the movie festival. He also makes sure that the selected movies are posted on the website in the best quality with accurate subtitles. He is always looking out for the directors' benefits.

PROFILE

Hiroyuki was born in Guatemala and grew up in South America, Japan, and US. He attended Tufts University and received a BFA degree. After graduating, he kicked off his career working for a Japanese TV production company in New York, U.S. Hiroyuki supported various Japanese TV productions during the 9/11 disaster. He encountered RESFEST, a highly acclaimed digital film festival, while in New York and gradually concentrated his career toward the movie industry. Hiroyuki loves all movies that strike the soul, regardless of genre. He has created several original movies as private projects and has participated in the International Triennale of Contemporary Art hosted by the National Gallery in Prague, as well as the Rodin gallery held in Seoul, Korea.

Takes care of the key processes involving the CON-CAN website. Also looks over all marketing activities: promotional campaigns, the award ceremony, and much more. During the complete website renewal, he acted as the project manager and took control of the work flow. His ultimate marketing goal is to spread the popularity of short movies to all ages and cultures.

PROFILE

Alex was born in Tokyo, Japan. He spent a brief time of his childhood in the U.S. but most of his upbringing was in Tokyo. He received his undergraduate degree in Marketing at the University of Notre Dame. One of Alex's favorite movies is “Office Space” (1999), a comical twist on office life directed by Mike Judge. He also enjoys movies with powerful characters and through watching “The Aviator” (2004) directed by Martin Scorsese, is greatly influenced by the strong and sturdy spirit of Howard Hughes who is not afraid of a challenge. Alex recently spends his weekends playing with his two cute but rowdy nephews.

Found a strong connection with the movies of CON-CAN and joint the team as a communications specialist. Spent his career mostly in the field of Public Relations (PR) and has a vast connection in the PR and Media industry. Is keeping constant contact with other movie festivals and multiple movie-related industries to spread the word of CON-CAN at a global range.

PROFILE

Nobuo was born in Tokyo, Japan and spends his whole lifetime in Tokyo. He spent most of his career working for one the top automobile companies in Japan in the field of PR. During his college days, he spent his time enjoying musical movies imported straight from the U.S. with his fellow movie buff friends. The most memorable movie he has watched is “Stormy Weather” (1943), directed by Andrew L. Stone. The movie that Nubuo enjoys watching over and over again is “Higanbana”, a Japanese heart-warming romantic comedy directed by Yasujiro Ozu. Is a loving father of two children.

Joined the CON-CAN team starting from 2008 influenced by her love of movies. Constantly juggles multiple tasks such as the creation of presentation materials and manages the schedule with the many translators working for CON-CAN. She is the solid foundation that supports CON-CAN.

PROFILE

Megumi was born in Gunma and raised in Ibaraki, Japan. She was brought up constantly listening to movie sound tracks, which was her father's favorite. After graduating college in Tokyo, she worked at a well-renowned banking corporation for 15 years and left her job on account of marriage. Megumi met Nofil, the CON-CAN leader, at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics when they were both working as volunteers and has remained close friends since then. She enjoys visiting movie theatres during her free time with her English husband. The most impressive movie she has watched these past few years is “Crash” (2004) directed by Paul Haggis. In addition, Megumi likes romantic comedy flicks, such as “A Life Less Ordinary” (1997) directed by Danny Boyle.
